International Students Work Rights Legal Service

We are a free, confidential and independent legal service for international students. Our lawyers can help international students with work-related legal problems, (excluding migration).

We also offer free talks and workshops for international students about common legal problems and how to avoid them. Please see the News-JobWatch link on the sidebar for more details.

Our lawyers are available every Thursday at the Study Melbourne Student Centre at 599 Little Bourke St, Melbourne (close to Southern Cross station).

Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman - International Students

The Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) has released information aimed at raising the awareness of the FWO and workplace rights among international students. 

1. 'Get help with your pay without worrying about your visa' - reviews the referral protocol between the FWO and the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). It is important to note that the FWO and the DIBP have agreed that visas will not be cancelled in certain circumstances. Click on the link to read more.
