Your generous donation between 12pm Thursday 3rd November to 12pm Thursday 10th November will allow us to support more people like Trinity.

Trinity is a 19-year-old apprentice welder living and working in rural Victoria. She had a good relationship with her employer and has received formal recommendations from her TAFE for the work that she has been doing.

A month ago, Trinity found out that she was pregnant and she had to withdraw from a voluntary course offered by her employer which involved high temperatures and enclosed spaces that were not advisable for pregnant women. Soon after this, Trinity was forced to take a personal day from work due to morning sickness. That same day, Trinity received an email from her employer telling her that they were terminating her employment.

JobWatch supported Trinity with legal advice on General Protections Dispute – Termination claim, unfair dismissal and discrimination on the basis of pregnancy. Trinity decided to pursue an unfair dismissal claim, and we represented Trinity through the application and during conciliation. The matter settled following the conciliation for compensation.

Will you help us help more people like Trinity?

We know that the next few years will be tough with cost of living and global economic pressures, and wage decline in real terms. Workers are the ones who will bear the brunt of these pressures, and your help will go a long way to ensuring they have the legal assistance they need.
