JobWatch was featured in The Australian on 20 July 2021, commenting on proposed amendments to the Fair Work Act 2009 allowing employees to take up to two days of compassionate leave if they, their spouse or de facto has a miscarriage.

While the panel of women’s rights organisations at the committee was overwhelmingly in favour of the amendment, some were quick to point out its inadequacies.
“Allowing for only two days of compassionate leave is insufficient to accommodate the physical, emotional and psychiatric toll of (a miscarriage),” workers rights legal centre JobWatch said.
The organisation argued four weeks’ leave would be more appropriate.
