Family Violence and Employment Law

JobWatch presented the webinar ‘Family Violence and Employment Law’ on Thursday 24 June 2021.

It gives an overview of employment law topics relevant to people affected by family violence (FV). We know that maintaining employment for people experiencing FV is extremely important for their security, independence and self-esteem. Over the years, we have provided advice and representation to clients, usually women, whose experience of FV has had a detrimental impact on their employment.

In this session, we examined the main employment law rights you should be familiar with when assisting people who are experiencing FV, including:

  • Right to request flexible working arrangements
  • Right to certain types of leave
  • Unfair dismissal
  • General protections disputes
  • OHS considerations

If you’re supporting clients affected by FV and you’re trying to help them maintain their employment and financial stability, you need to know about these employment rights!

You can catch up on the webinar on YouTube now, as well as download the Powerpoint presentation.
