JobWatch spoke to The Age about COVID-19 vaccine mandates in the workplace.
Zana Bytheway, chief executive of the employment rights community legal centre JobWatch, has urged people who were let go over the mandates to consider asking their former employers for their jobs back once the requirements were dropped.
“They could ask for their jobs, but there is no obligation on the employer to take them back and no new rights for employees now if the mandates are lifted,” she said.
“When a vaccine mandate applies, the employer has no choice but to exclude the employee from the workplace … we’re now in a very different environment, there is no argument for the vaccine economy to be in place.”
